Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 comes out on October 23, 2026 for PC (Steam, Battle.net and Xbox on PC), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Here is how to get high, steady FPS on PC.

PC system requirements

MinimumRecommended (about 90 FPS, high)
Graphics cardGTX 970 / GTX 1060, RX 470, Arc A580RTX 3060 Ti, RX 6600 XT
ProcessorCore i5-6600, Ryzen 5 1400not listed yet
Memory8 GB16 GB
StorageSSD, about 115 GB freeSSD

Requirements as published before launch. Install the game on an SSD: Call of Duty streams a lot of data while you play, a hard drive causes stutters and slow texture loading.

1. Upscaling: DLSS or FSR

MW4 supports NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR. Set the upscaler to Quality or Balanced: you get a lot more FPS for a small loss in sharpness. Frame Generation raises the FPS counter but adds input delay, so leave it off in multiplayer if you care about response.

2. The settings that cost the most FPS

  • Shadow quality and screen space shadows: low
  • Ambient occlusion and screen space reflections: off or low
  • Volumetric quality (fog, light shafts): low
  • Motion blur, depth of field, film grain: off (also makes the picture clearer)
  • Texture quality: as high as your video memory allows (watch the VRAM bar in the menu)
  • On-demand texture streaming: off if your internet is slow or the game stutters

3. Low latency

  • Display mode Fullscreen exclusive
  • NVIDIA Reflex: On + Boost, if the game offers it. AMD: Anti-Lag in the AMD Software.
  • VSync off, frame rate limit a little above or at your monitor's refresh rate

4. Windows and network

  • Set your monitor to its full refresh rate in Windows display settings
  • Game Mode and Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling on
  • Newest graphics driver (drivers for big releases come out right before launch)
  • Use a cable instead of Wi-Fi if you can

EMP Tweaks and Modern Warfare 4

EMP Tweaks' Windows, network and GPU tweaks help every game, MW4 included, and EMP measures your real FPS in it. EMP never injects into the game and never touches its memory, it only changes Windows, driver and settings files. Every change can be undone with one button.

Questions

When does MW4 come out?

October 23, 2026 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.

Can a Windows optimizer get me banned in Call of Duty?

Tools that inject into the game or read its memory can. EMP Tweaks does neither: it only changes Windows, driver and settings files, like you could by hand.
